Matt Hampson Foundation School Sevens

Figure image
Young players from across the region will end their season on the Welford Road turf in a Sevens tournament at the home of Leicester Tigers.

Eight school teams will play in an under-14 tournament supported by the Tigers Community team and the Matt Hampson Foundation on Friday, June 1.

Teams from Leicester Grammar, Oakham, Stamford, Langley and Gresham’s schools and King’s School from Grantham are already confirmed for the event and there is an opportunity for two more school teams to enter.

Each school will receive a bespoke set of playing shirts made in their colours as well as the chance to run out on the Welford Road pitch. Food and refreshments will also be provided.

The Matt Hampson Foundation is going from strength to strength, providing support and inspiration for young people seriously injured through sport.

The tournament promises a memorable occasion for the players and all eight schools will be raising funds for the Matt Hampson Foundation. There will be prizes for those raising the most money, including a coaching session with the Tigers Community team, Tigers players and Matt, and a signed shirt for the best fund-raising individual.

The tournament promises a memorable occasion for the players – possibly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them.
