Leicester Tigers will run out for the opening home game of the Aviva Premiership season on Saturday backed by a record number of season ticket holders at Welford Road.

Tigers began the season with a five-try win away to London Welsh last weekend and return to home ground for the Round 2 fixture against Worcester Warriors boosted by the news that more than 14,000 supporters have secured their places with a season ticket.

Club chief executive Simon Cohen said: “The loyalty of Tigers supporters is never in question, and we are also delighted to welcome record numbers of season ticket holders for the new season.

“The following for Leicester Tigers has been built over many, many years and we have generations of families who have grown up with the club and still meet up on Tigers matchdays.

“We have also been particularly encouraged by the number of supporters who have committed to season tickets for the first time this summer and hope they will be with us for years to come.

“One of the factors that appeals to a lot of players coming into the club is the volume of support for the team week in, week out, and there is no doubt that matchday at Welford Road is a great experience for both the team and the crowd.

“We thank everyone who has already committed their support with a season ticket and look forward to seeing them at Welford Road.”

Season tickets are still available, with price categories for adults, young adult & full-time students, 65-plus, juniors and families. For more information see the club website at www.leicestertigers.com, phone the ticket office on 0844 856 1880 or call in at Welford Road. The office is open 8.30am-5.00pm weekdays, until 8.00pm Wednesdays and 9.00am-5.00pm on Saturdays.

To celebrate the start of the new season supporters can join family activities and enjoy live music and entertainment at Tigers In The Park opposite the stadium this Saturday. Entry to Tigers In The Park is free and the gates open at 11am.
