Peter Tom said: "I and everyone at Leicester Tigers was deeply saddened to hear the news of Leon’s death.
“Leon was fiercely loyal and committed to Northampton Saints and the on-going development of club rugby in this country, and he was a very popular figure.
“Although Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints share a long and traditional rivalry, Leon was always a gracious host at Franklin’s Gardens and a welcome guest at Welford Road.
“The sport will be all the poorer for his passing.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad and difficult time.”
