Head of HR

Location: Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium, Leicester & Oval Park Training Ground, Oadby.
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time.
Salary: To be discussed upon interview.

The Role

Here at Leicester Tigers, we are excited to announce that an opportunity has opened up to join our team as our new Head of HR.

Reporting directly to the Club’s CEO, the primary focus of the Head of HR will be to lead on the further development and implementation of an HR and People Strategy that is focussed on bringing the best people to the Club; engaging them in the goals and values of the organisation; and creating the conditions that allow each of them to become the best possible version of themselves.

The successful candidate will act as front line support to all Leicester Tigers employees; acknowledging and assisting with day-to-day queries and requests, and ensuring that ‘effective service’ is a key trait of the HR Function.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To design, drive, and review HR and people processes and policies; ensuring compliance with current legislation and supporting employee relations;
  • To act as the Club’s primary point of contact for all employment related issues, queries and opportunities that may arise on a day-to-day basis;
  • Managing and maintaining all employment documentation through the Clubs’ People Management software; ensuring that the platform is providing value to all users, whilst exploring new ways in which to maximise its functionality;
  • To continue to develop and review the Club’s induction and onboarding processes to enable seamless transitions for all staff into their new roles, the Club, and life in Leicester;
  • To collaborate with line managers across the Club to ensure the most effective recruitment and selection principles are applied on a consistent basis;
  • To design and periodically review a reward and benefits strategy that aligns to organisational context and culture, and is relative to the external market place;
  • To support line managers in clearly defining and communicating what success looks like for each role within the context of departmental and organisational objectives, values, and strategies;
  • To work closely with senior management to design and drive the implementation of robust review processes for staff across the Club; with a particular focus on performance management and engagement;
  • To assist line managers in identify critical talent across the organisation; supporting the retention and accelerated progression of those capable of excelling; and ensuring succession/contingency plans are in place for each;
  • To design a framework and set of guiding principles around the implementation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs); to support line managers in ensuring IDPs are in place and monitored for all employees across the organisation; aligning to departmental and organisational strategies;
  • To future-scope the role of the HR Function within the organisation – investigating potential future trends, and the implications upon our people strategies
  • To provide direct line management to the HR Support Apprentice in accordance with standards set out in the club’s people strategy;
  • To carry out any other duties and tasks that are required by management, and are within the post-holder’ capabilities.

Essential

  • A demonstrable track record of working within senior HR positions;
  • A history of working in fast-paced and dynamic environments;
  • A proven ability to directly manage and mentor junior members of staff;
  • A record of working both strategically and operationally, as well as the ability to balance the two;
  • A successful record of driving change and developing commercially viable people-oriented processes;
  • A proven history of successful communication at all levels of an organisation;
  • An evident ability to manage complex and sometimes sensitive issues effectively;
  • The capacity to work flexibly around the needs of the business;
  • Full and clean UK driving licence;
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • CIPD qualified (Level 5) or equivalent;
  • Prior involvement in the administration and management of a dedicated HR system/platform;
  • Previous experience of working within a Professional Team Sports environment;
  • Previous experience of working as part of a Senior Leadership/Management Team.

Catering/Bar Staff

Salary: Pay rate starts at £9.30 per hour

At Leicester Tigers, we are excited to announce that with the return of Match Days, we are looking for Catering/Bar Staff to start at this weekend's match (Saturday, September 18).

  • You must have the right to work in the UK and have a passport and National Insurance Number.
  • Available to work on Saturday, September 18 in a hospitality or retail bar role.
  • Can travel to Leicester Tigers Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

The Role:

At Leicester Tigers, we are excited to announce that with the return of spectators on the horizon we are looking to expand our Casual Match Day workforce, specifically within our pool of Match Day Stewards.

The role of the Match Day Steward is to ensure that all visitors to Leicester Tigers experience a safe and enjoyable Match Day experience. Our Match Day Stewards will assist with the circulation of spectators, prevent overcrowding, reduce the incidence of disorder or incident and provide the means to investigate, report and take early action in an emergency (as per green guide).

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promoting the health, safety and welfare of all spectators, other stewards, ground staff and themselves;
  • Carrying out safety checks;
  • Directing spectators who are entering or leaving the ground, to achieve an even flow of people to and from the viewing areas.
  • Assisting in the safe operation of the stadium;
  • Staffing entrances, exits and other strategic points;
  • Recognising crowd conditions so to ensure the safe dispersal of spectators and the prevention of overcrowding, particularly on terraces or viewing slopes;
  • Understanding key points connected to Counter Terrorism prevention and management;
  • Assisting the emergency services as required;
  • Undertaking specific duties in an emergency or as directed by the safety officer or the appropriate emergency safety officer;
  • Providing basic emergency first aid;
  • Responding to emergencies (such as the early stages of a fire), to raise the alarm and take the necessary immediate action;
  • Treating all employees, stakeholders and customers with dignity and respect, ensuring the Tigers values and behaviours are always demonstrated;
  • Carrying out any other duties and tasks required by management, which are within the post-holders capabilities.
  • Upholding the Club’s values of: Club First, Tough, Passionate and Driven.

Who we are looking for:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring a first class service is given to all customers whilst visiting the Tigers shop, especially through communication.
  • Ensuring that the stock is maintained to a high standard of presentation and to familiarise yourself with all products and their position within the store.
  • Awareness of all the team on the shop floor and the needs of the day.
  • Complying with the Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ensuring that all Security procedures are strictly adhered too.
  • Carrying out any other duties and tasks required by management, which are within the post-holders capabilities.
