What Is AAA?

Abdominal aortic aneurysm is a balloon-like swelling of the aorta, the main artery leading away from your heart which passes through your abdomen. It can be serious if it is not spotted early on, as it could get bigger and eventually burst and rupture.

3000 to 4000 men over the age of 65 are called for screening in Leicestershire, Leicester, and Rutland every year, of those 200-300 will be identified as having an AAA of some level.
