A South African wing or centre, Kobus Van Wyk arrived in Leicester from the Hurricanes in New Zealand after playing in their Super Rugby Aotearoa tournament in 2020.

From the Northern Cape region, Kobus was a Junior World Cup winner with South Africa Under-20s in 2012 after playing for Western Province in the age-group levels.

He spent two seasons in Super Rugby with the Stormers from 2014 and also had five months with Bordeaux-Bègles in France during 2016 before signing for the Sharks where he made another 30 appearances in two seasons as well as playing in the Currie Cup.

He scored a hat-trick on his Hurricanes debut against the Sunwolves in February 2020 and played in the Aotearoa campaign before moving to Tigers in the closing stages of the extended 2019/20 season and made his debut in the final-day fixture against Harlequins.
