Born in Blaby, Arthur Buckingham made his Leicester debut in 1924 and became a mainstay of the backline for a decade.
Leicester’s top try-scorer in three seasons, he totalled 117 in his 325 appearances at centre and later became a regular goalkicker. he captained Tigers in 1993/34.
He collected an England cap against France in 1927 and was a travelling reserve on 10 occasions as well as playing for the Barbarians in the Mobbs Memorial Match in 1935.
