Leicester Tigers moved into second place in the Northern Conference of the Premiership Under-18 League with a 27-14 victory over Wasps on Saturday.
In the final round of league action, Tigers led 17-0 at half-time after tries from Max Nolan (2) – the second coming while the team were down to 14 men with a player in the sin bin – and Joseph Woodward.
Replacement Oliver Crane added the bonus-point score midway through the second haklf to stretch the lead to 22 points before Wasps hit back with two tries which brought the gap back to just eight points.
The fifth try, scored by Alex Garrett, put the outcome beyond doubt as Tigers leapt up the table with a fourth win in the round-game league programme.
The Academy League Finals Day, when north and south conferences meet to decide overall standings, is scheduled for the end of February.
