Tigers announce Premiership 7s line-up

Jonah Holmes and summer signing Sam Aspland-Robinson are included in the Leicester Tigers squad assembled for the Premiership Sevens this weekend.

The 12 Premiership Rugby clubs contest the pool stages at Franklin’s Gardens, home of Northampton Saints, on Friday evening and return for finals day on Saturday.

Holmes ended his debut season at Tigers in 2017/18 with 10 tries in 11 first-team games, while former England Under-20s wing Aspland-Robinson is settling in at the club after a summer move from Harlequins.

The squad, which will be led by coach Geordan Murphy, also includes Tigers academy graduates George Worth, Charlie Thacker and Harry Simmons.

Tommy Reffell, who captained Wales at the World Under-20s Championship in France earlier this summer, is joined in the squad by teenagers Henri Lavin, Thom Smith and Taylor Gough who combined in the back row during the club’s Under-18 League title win last season.

Phil Woodhead, the Wharfedale captain who played for Tigers in the 2014 edition of the Premiership Sevens, returns to the club’s colours this weekend and the squad is completed by Irish Clubs representative Fionn Higgins and Hull wing Mike Adlard.

Tigers’ opening game is against the Falcons at 7.45pm, with the second game against Saracens at 9.15pm. There is full live coverage of both days of competition on BT Sport.
