Seven Tigers to feature in WXV 2 opening weekend

Seven Tigers are involved as the first-ever WXV 2 competition gets underway in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The competition, alongside WX1 and WX3, set up by World Rugby, aims to 'supercharge the test game' by giving national teams access to more top-level matches, with the tournament set to double the number of annual international fixtures for most competing teams.

The second game of the tournament will see several Tigers do battle as Scotland take on South Africa. The two sides will compete at the Danie Craven Stadium on Friday, October 13 (kick-off: 3.30pm, UK time).

Scotland's side contains three Tigers. In the front-row, Leah Bartlett will begin the game at loose head prop, while in the backs, Francesca McGhie starts the match on the wing.

Looking to make another instant impact off the bench, Elis Martin is named as replacement hooker.

For South Africa, Catha Jacobs will start on the bench, the versatile forward sure to make an impact whether that be at lock or in the back-row.

In the other WXV fixture with Tigers involved, the USA will face Samoa on Saturday, October 14 (kick-off: 2pm UK time).

The USA side will contain three Leicester Tigers players, including Tahlia Brodyhaving played across the world, starting at flanker and making her fifth appearance for her country.

Tess Feury will once again begin on the wing, having started there rather than her usual full-back berth against Wales two weeks ago, while prop Keia Mae Sagapolu begins the game on the bench.
