Second-row forward Harry Wells has agreed to new contract terms at Leicester Tigers.

Peterborough-born Wells played in all six games in the successful Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign this season as well as making his first start in the Aviva Premiership in an away win over Harlequins at the end of February.

A Leicester Tigers academy graduate, Wells was a World Junior Championship winner with England under-20s and has also been nominated for the club’s Lumbers Player of the Month award in March.

Tigers forwards coach Richard Blaze said: “Harry is very keen to improve and develop his game and has made big progress this season which we have seen in his first-team performances.

“He’s in a very competitive position in the squad but is also in a great place to learn.”

Wells, 23, said: “I’ve played a lot more rugby this year and I’m happy to get a new contact here. It’s a good group of players to be involved with and I try to pick up as much as I can learning from the coaches and the experienced players around me.

“I’ve enjoyed it so far this season and I just want to keep developing my game and putting myself forward.”
