Tigers, the defending champions, host London Irish in the last weekend of the Premiership league fixtures and can secure top spot in the table for a third successive season. This match is to be followed by a Tigers Academy fixture against England Academy Under-19.
Tigers Academy won the corresponding fixture last year when Manu Tuilagi, Andrew Forsyth and Matt Everard were among the try-scorers in a 22-14 victory.
Tuilagi has gone on to win the club’s Young Player of the Year awards and break into the England Saxons set-up, while many of his former Academy colleagues have played in the victorious Aviva Premiership ‘A’ League team in the last two seasons.
Last season’s England Academy side included Jonathan Joseph, Andy Short and Owen Farrell who have all enjoyed a breakthrough season in senior company this year and another top-class encounter is expected.
