The fifth annual Walk4Matt gets underway this weekend and Leicester Tigers fans are encouraged to show their support.

Walk4Matt starts in Rugby on Saturday, May 18 and follows the 110-mile route along the towpaths of the Grand Union Canal to Twickenham in time for the Aviva Premiership Final between Tigers and Northampton Saints on Saturday, May 25.

There are two day-long walks on the opening weekend, and Tigers fans are being encouraged to take part in either or both of them.

The first is on Saturday, May 18 from the Old Royal Oak pub in Rugby to the Heart of England pub in Weedon, Northamptonshire and the second is on Sunday, May 19, starting in Weedon and finishing at the Navigation at Cosgrove near Milton Keynes.

Walkers will be joined on the route by some Tigers favourites as well as other members of the rugby family.

Walk4Matt is in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation, one of the club’s official charities, which assists those seriously injured through sport. More information on the Foundation at its work is available by clicking here

The walkers will also be joined by Tigers fan Rob Knapp, who aims to paddle the route in a tin bath tub!

"It's going to be hard work but I am determined to go the whole way in the bath," said Rob.

Meanwhile, Cycle4Matt will see coaches and parents at Ashby RFC cycle to all 12 Aviva Premiership clubs - and the Grand Final - in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation.

Cycle4Matt will see Neil Robson, the club's under 13s head coach, and parents Chris Ratcliffe and Terry Huxley cycle almost 700 miles in nine days, starting at from Sale Sharks' Salford City Stadium this Friday. The first leg will finish at Ashby RFC, Nottingham Road in Ashby de la Zouch.

As part of the challenge, there will be a Cycle4Matt Open Day on Sunday when anyone aged 16 or over is invited to join them for all or part of that day's leg. The 67-mile stage covers the 21 miles from Ashby to Welford Road, the 31 miles from Tigers' home to Northampton Saints' Franklin's Gardens, and from there the 15 miles to Cosgrove, where that day's stage of Walk4Matt is due to finish.
