Allen nominated for try of the year

Anthony Allen is in the running to win the RPA Sunday Times Try of the Year.

Allen’s score in the 39-6 win over Leeds Carnegie at Welford Road in November is on a six-strong shortlist for the award. Click here to see the try on LTTV.

The Tigers and England centre faces competition from Chris Ashton, David Lemi, Duncan Bell, Andy Saull and Joe Maddock for the award.

The winner will be decided by rugby supporters in a public online vote. Visit the RPA website at www.theRPA.co.uk/tryoftheyear to vote and watch footage of all six tries.

The winner of the Sunday Times Try of the Year will be announced at the RPA Computacenter Rugby Players’ Awards Dinner 2010 on Wednesday, May 26.

Other awards to be presented at the dinner include the Computacenter Players’ Player of the Year Award and the Norman Broadbent Young Player of the YearAward, for which Dan Cole and Ben Youngs have been nominated.
