British & Irish Lions star Tom Croft has sent his best wishes to the Special Olympics as organisers count down to the opening ceremony in Leicester on Saturday, July 25.

Croft is an ambassador for the Special Olympics Leicester and, after a season which brought him a Guinness Premiership title, an appearance in Europe’s Heineken Cup Final and international recognition with England and the Lions, he said: “The Special Olympics is very much part of the Olympic family and sport has a great way of bringing people together.

“I’m sure all of the competitors, coaches, volunteer helpers and their supporters will have a great time in Leicester this summer and I wish them all the very best.”

The opening ceremony of the eighth Special Olympics Great Britain National Summer Games is at the Walkers Stadium on July 25, starting at 6.30pm. Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 for under-16s. Click here to find out for more about Special Olympic Leicester 2009 and to for details of how to book opening ceremony tickets.
