Sunday’s final between Northampton Saints and Gloucester Rugby will be played at the 12,000-capacity Sixways Stadium in Worcester, meaning Welford Road cannot be overtaken as home to the biggest attendance in the competition in 2009/10.
A total of 19,772 tickets were sold for the Round 3 fixture between Tigers and Bath Rugby at Welford Road, the biggest gate of the season in the LV= Cup.
That figure is also a record for the pool stages of the Anglo-Welsh competition, surpassing the previous best of 17,172 for Tigers’ home game against Sale Sharks in November 2007.
The record crowd for all games played in the Anglo-Welsh tournament was the 65,756 who witnessed the 2008 final at Twickenham between eventual winners the Ospreys and Tigers.
