Premiership Rugby has confirmed the final of the 2016-17 Anglo-Welsh Cup will be played at the Twickenham Stoop on Sunday, March 19.

The tournament kicks off this weekend with the 12 Aviva Premiership sides and four Welsh Regions locking horns.

Tigers travel to Bath Rugby on Friday (kick-off 7.45pm) before hosting Newport Gwent Dragons at Welford Road on Saturday, November 12 (3pm).

Tigers season ticket holders will be able to book a free match ticket for the game against Newport to share with family and friends. This offer is available to book in person at Welford Road, by phoning 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or online, subject to availability. Any supporter wishing to book an extra ticket in the Gold section should call the ticket office in person or phone.

Phil Winstanley, rugby director at Premiership Rugby, said: “The Anglo-Welsh Cup has a crucial place in the rugby calendar and we are delighted to see it back this season.

“Many of the players who will be on duty at Twickenham for England against South Africa on November 12 made their club debuts in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, so it is clear how important the tournament is.

“With England winning three out of the last four Under-20s Rugby World Cups it will be fascinating to see some of those players feature in the next fortnight. Many supporters will get the first glimpse of some of the stars of tomorrow, together with players who have already made their debuts playing more senior roles in the quest for Anglo-Welsh Cup silverware.”

This year the number of Anglo-Welsh Cup matches shown live on TV will increase significantly with BT Sport taking over the exclusive live coverage of the tournament, broadcasting two matches this weekend. Their coverage will be complimented by an Anglo-Welsh Cup highlights show on ITV Sport.
