Leicester Tigers are heading to Loughborough RFC this Sunday to host a Tag Rugby Fun Day as part of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme.

The fun day, aimed at school years 3 and 4, will run from 10.30am until noon on Sunday (January 27) and is free to enter.

Tigers community coaches will run tag rugby sessions for children to help develop teamwork, communication and co-ordination skills as well as individual tag rugby ability.

The day will include mini games and competitions, and the chance to meet new friends.

The Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme is run by the 12 Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs. Tigers are running the programme in Leicester and Norfolk and will be working with more than 100 schools this season.

The programme represents a significant investment of £2m by Aviva, the world's sixth-largest insurance group, into the grassroots of the game.

During the season, the programme involves more than 15,000 hours of coaching reaching more than 39,000 Key Stage 2 pupils from 650 primary schools. With the initiative due to be repeated during the next two seasons as well, that means involving 150,000 young people who may not otherwise have been exposed to the sport.

Due to recent weather conditions, it is advisable to check the Tigers website later this week to confirm the session and timings will go ahead as planned.
