Summer signing Seremaia Bai says he is "excited and also nervous" as he looks forward to the start of Leicester Tigers' pre-season fixtures at Nottingham on Saturday.

Bai moved to Leicester after eight years in France with Clermont Auvergne and Castres, and is preparing for his first experience of the Aviva Premiership with the new season less than a month away.

“It is an exciting time when you’re all looking forward to the first game of the summer,” he said.

The Fijian, who plays at fly-half or centre, will be involved in a Tigers line-up this weekend which shows a mixture of youth and experience as the coaching team look for the whole squad to gain game-time during the three weekends of their pre-season programme.

“I feel excited about it, and a bit nervous too, in a first game in a new club,” added Bai.

“Like all the players, you come into the club and you want to do well and you want to be in the team.”

Bai says he has enjoyed the pre-season period in new surroundings and feels preparations are going well for the season which begins with a home game against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, September 6 (3pm).

“Everybody loves playing, but you know you also have to do your work in training, especially in pre-season,” he said.

“Now this group of players is looking forward to being able to play a game and also to put into a game some of the things we have been working on in training.

“Physically I feel good, I am getting my body right for the start of the season, and now I am looking forward to it.”
