Stankovich, who joined Tigers from French Top 14 outfit Albi during the summer, makes his first club appearance since the 28-20 victory over Worcester Warriors on October 20.
Gavin Hickie continues his comeback with a starting place at hooker, while fellow first-teamer Dave Young joins Hickie and Stankovich in the front row.
Ian Humphreys starts at fly-half, with Paul Burke named among the replacements.
Ben Herring, Richard Blaze and Ayoola Erinle are also given opportunities to impress, as are the next generation of academy stars such as Calum Green, Sam Harrison, Billy Twelvetrees and Dan Hemingway.
The match was originally scheduled for Sale’s old home of Heywood Road but will now take place at Edgeley Park.
