Leicester Tigers have picked up another award, this time for Business Tourism.

Tigers accepted the prize at the annual Leicester and Leicestershire Excellence in Tourism Awards event on home ground at Welford Road.

After scooping a Rugby Expo double as Rugby Venue of the Year and Marketing Innovation of the Year for the work with the Tigers Family, the Business Tourism completes a notable hat-trick for the club.

This latest award acknowledges the importance of the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector of the tourism industry, with special attention paid to innovative products and business tourism products reaching new market.

Other award winners at the Leicester and Leicestershire event included Maiyango hotel and restaurant, Curve Theatre, Melton Mowbray Victorian Fair, Hinckley Island Hotel, Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport hotel and Charnwood Museum.

Martin Peters, chief executive of organisers Leicester Shire Promotions, said: "Our congratulations go to all of the winners. All categories were strongly contested and this shows the range and quality of tourism businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire.

"The value of tourism in the city and county grew again last year and, through their continued commitment to excellence, these winners are making a significant contribution to the success of the local tourism sector."
