Debut delight for try-scorer Tuilagi

Manu Tuilagi marked his England debut with a try in the 23-19 win over Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Leicester Tigers centre made his breakthrough with a second-half score, barging through close to the posts following an inside pass from fly-half Jonny Wilkinson.

Wales wing George North scored twice, with the visitors’ other try coming from Shane Williams, while No.8 James Haskell joined Tuilagi on the England scoresheet, powering his way over the line from a close-range scrum. Wilkinson kicked the remainder of the England points.

Tuilagi, who has already been capped by England at under-16, 18, 20 and Saxons levels, was joined in the starting line-up by Tigers colleague Tom Croft. Dan Cole, Louis Deacon, Toby Flood and Ben Youngs are also included in the 40-man training squad as England continue their preparations for the Rugby World Cup.
