Malouf disappointed by debut defeat

Nick Malouf says it was a fantastic experience to make his Leicester Tigers debut at Welford Road despite the disappointment of defeat to Bath Rugby.

Malouf made his first Aviva Premiership start on the wing and announced himself to the Tigers faithful with some crunching tackles, notably a second-half one on Bath’s British & Irish Lions No8 Taulupe Faletau. Watch the tackle again on the video below.

Roared on by another huge matchday crowd, Tigers threatened a late comeback but had to settle for a bonus point from a 27-23 defeat.

And afterwards Malouf said: “Everyone has told me how good the Welford Road crowd is. When you are out there and you can hear that Tigers chant go up around the place it fills you with energy.

"It’s fantastic to be on the field when they are chanting and right behind you."

He added: “We know we weren’t good enough. We didn’t do what we wanted to do. From our side of things it’s a bit disappointing. We know we can be so much better than that in our performance.”
