Derby rivalry put aside for one day

Rivalries in the East Midlands were put to one side this week as Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints joined forces for the benefit of developing grassroots rugby.

Collaborating on behalf of Land Rover on the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire border at Market Harborough RFC, Premiership stars George Ford, Jonny May and Ellis Genge combined with Dan Biggar, Piers Francis and Cobus Reinach before their crunch match on Friday at Welford Road.

Internationals Biggar and Ford provided a place-kicking masterclass, while Genge shared tips on the dark arts of scrummaging.

May, Reinach and Francis assisted with the Market Harborough backs to develop one-on-one footwork and attacking drills.

With just six points separating sixth and 10th place in the Gallagher Premiership, this has been one of the closest domestic seasons on record.

A victory for either side will provide a major boost going into the remaining five rounds with everything to play for, ensuring another fierce encounter on Friday.

Match tickets are still available for Friday. Book in person at the Tigers ticket office, phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or click on the link below.
