Ellis made his fifth appearance of the tour and his first in a Lions Test, joining Croft as the first graduates of the Tigers Academy to wear the famous red shirt at Test level.
Tigers scrum-half Ellis was introduced in the 55th minute – just seconds after a try from Ugo Monye had increased the tourists' lead to 22-6 following two first-half scores by Shane Williams. Ellis replaced centre Riki Flutey, with No9 Mike Phillips having to move into midfield.
Croft, who started both previous Tests in the series, had a four-minute run-out as a blood replacement for Joe Worsley in the first half and the move was made permanent in the 65th minute as the Lions closed out a memorable victory.
