Everards Tiger Best Bitter wins gold

Everards Tiger Best Bitter, the Official Beer of Leicester Tigers, has proven itself world class by scooping the Gold Medal at this year's Brewing Industry International Awards.

Brewed in Leicestershire, Tiger Best Bitter championed competition from across the globe to be recognised as the best in the International Keg Ale Competition, Class 2 for Ales between 3.8% and 4.7% category.

Chairman Richard Everard and Graham Giblett, Everards head brewer, received the prestigious accolade at a special awards ceremony regarded as the ‘Oscars of the brewing industry’ at the Guild Hall in London.

Richard Everard said: “We are very proud to have Tiger Best Bitter recognised as the best International Keg Ale. This award is a great testament to the entire team who work so hard to ensure that our ales continue to be of the highest quality.”

This year’s awards attracted 796 entries from across the world taking part in more than 31 classes and nine categories.

Head brewer Giblett said: “A gold medal is a major achievement in the face of such prestigious competition. The award reflects the passion of our brewing team and our dedication to only use premium ingredients in Tiger Best Bitter.”

A Tigers spokesman said: “Welford Road is the home of world-class rugby and we are proud to have the world-class Everards Tiger Best Bitter as the Official Beer of Leicester Tigers.

“Everards Tiger Best Bitter is a firm favourite with our supporters and visitors to Welford Road and it is great that this champion of beers has been recognised as the best International Keg Ale.”
