Tigers supporter Si Braybrooke, who is a season ticket holder in the Goldsmiths Stand despite living in Purfleet in Essex, popped the question to girlfriend Claire Gibbens in front of a 21,000-strong crowd at half-time.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while and this seemed as good an opportunity as any,” he said before going down on one knee and asking Claire to marry him.
While Welford Road acknowledged Si and Claire, the scoreboard flashed up the message “Claire Gibbens, she said yes! Love Si”.
And there was more to follow, and news of a Leicester Tigers-London Wasps relationship gained some noisy reaction from the home crowd.
Tigers fan Kaz Fisk proposed via the electronic scoreboard to Wasps-supporting Kat Dickinson while they sat in the Caterpillar Stand.
"Everything went well and she said yes - thankfully!" says Kaz. "It was definently worth doing."
Congratulations to both couples from everyone at Leicester Tigers. And don’t forget Welford Road is now licensed for civil weddings and partnerships. You can obtain more details from the Conference & Events department!
