Film Leicester project helps bring Livestream to fans

Earlier this month, Leicester Tigers bought its first-ever livestream to supporters as part of a free service during the team's pre-season preparations.

With over 30,000 views and 10,000 hours of watch time across the two games against Welsh opposition, Dragons and Scarlets, the project saw the club collaborate with one of Leicester's collective Film Leicester

Tigers linked up with team, who were able to provide opportunities to three film and media graduates, in camera operation and technical support.

Aidan, Max and Callum are currently taking part in a six-week long placement working at Film Leicester, a CIC established by local film production Created by TEN who played an instrumental role in the club's recent Spirit of Leicester and The Awakening kit launch ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Phil Warrington, content production manager at Leicester Tigers, said: "The success of the livestream project is owed to the many people who came together bringing expertise across the club. From our IT and content team to the skills of our camera team and of course, regular matchday announcer Martin Ballard, it was a real team effort.

"Film Leicester enabled us to tap into the pool of creatives to use their talents, while providing them with real-world experience. Livestreaming was new to us all, but we've all come away with plenty of food for thought."

Andy Gundelach, co-founder of Film Leicester, added: "Film Leicester is all about making Leicester a new destination for Film & TV. We have the talent, people and locations at our disposal but it’s all about connecting these dots, thinking big and being open to new ideas.

"We want to bridge as many gaps as we can between education and business, as experience is so vital within the industry, so we were pleased to be able to support Leicester Tigers to facilitate creatives for key roles.

"Film Leicester’s team of Aidan, Max and Callum gained a lot of hands-on experience that they will now be able to add to their CV and take into their careers."
