Richard Cockerill describes Saturday's Kings of the North meeting with Sale Sharks as a final "dress rehearsal" for the new season.Welford Road hosts the match on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off) between Tigers and a Sale side unbeaten in their three Kings of the North fixtures so far.
Next weekend, both sides begin their Aviva Premiership campaign, with Tigers away to London Irish.
“Saturday is a good dress rehearsal for us,” said Tigers director of rugby Cockerill who also revealed that prop Logovi’i Mulipola will be included after recovering from a knee injury during the close-season.
“We have things to work on and our execution has to be better, though our skill set is getting better.
“At this stage every club is the same – everyone has had a good pre-season. It’s a phoney war. It’s what happens from October 18 when we go to London Irish that is key. We want to go there in good shape.”
Cockerill confirmed that Gonzalo Camacho, Jordan Crane, Owen Williams and Dom Barrow are making good progress after injury. Tigers will also welcome back a number of their World Cup players in the next week after the conclusion of the pool stages.
Tickets for Saturday’s game are available now. Buy at the ticket office in the Tigers Club Store at Welford Road, phone 0116 19 8888 (option 2) or click here to book online.
Kings of the North fixtures are included in Tigers season tickets.
