Fisher joins Tigers women’s programme

Olympian and England international Heather Fisher has joined the Leicester Tigers women’s rugby programme as a coach.

A former bobsleigh international, Fisher became a fearless back-rower whose England career included the 2010 Rugby World Cup when the team reached the final and 2014 when they became world champions. She has also been capped by England Sevens and played for Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as well as at Commonwealth games level.

The 37-year-old Fisher will work as head of strength and conditioning as well as coaching with Vicky Macqueen, head of Tigers women’s rugby, in support of Lichfield Ladies.

The team launch their season this weekend with a home game against West Park Leeds in the Championship North 1 while Lichfield Greens play against Bletchley Ladies at Level 3.

Fisher said: “I am so excited to be a part of the Tigers pathway, it’s an exciting and new opportunity that I know will be a success. I want to pass on my experience and knowledge while helping to inspire a generation coming through.”
