Fit Fans behind Mouth Cancer Awareness month

Members of Leicester Tigers Fit Fans group have been taken part in a campaign to help raise awareness of Mouth Cancer Awareness month.

The Fit Fans meet every Monday and Wednesday at Welford Road to take part in weekly sessions to keep fit.

Led by Tigers health education officer Ashleigh Theobald, each session focuses around a mix of bodyweight and cardio sessions suitable for all abilities with an emphasis on having fun.

Representatives from the Leicester City Council joined the group to talk about the risk factors associated with mouth cancer, as well as ways to check and spot early signs.

The ‘Healthy Teeth, Happy Smiles!’ campaign included a Q&A with foundation dentist Harry Dalton who handed out a gift bag which included health pamphlets and toiletries.

Fit Fans is a ten-week fitness programme that runs throughout the year. With the new year just around the corner, now may be the perfect time to get involved.
