Ford leads England to victory over USA

Tigers fly-half George Ford put in a man of the match performance to lead England to victory over USA in their second Pool C of the Rugby World Cup, in what doubled as a milestone fixture for two of Ford's Leicester team-mates Dan Cole and Ben Youngs.

Cole and Youngs both made their 91st Test appearances, which sees the Tigers duo move into equal-third on England's men's list for international matches played alongside World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson.

Ford, who was captaining the side at fly-half, scored 15 points in England 45-7 win, including the first try of the match just five minutes in to game at Kobe Misaki Stadium, and five conversions.

Billy Vunipola crossed for England's second in the 24th minute, before hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie added their third just after the half hour mark to see England take a 19-0 lead in to the break.

Joe Cokanasiga secured the bonus-point for his side in the 47th minute with the first of his two tries, before Ruaridh McConnochie went over for a try in his World Cup debut ten minutes later.

Lewis Ludlam was the next to score, with less than 15 minutes remaining on the clock, before Cokanasiga added his second and England's final try in the 75th minute.

The USA prevented a whitewash in extra-time when they crossed through Bryce Campbell in the 81st minute, which Sale Sharks fly-half AJ Macginty converted in the final play of the game.
