Saxons head coach Steve Bates has selected Richard Blaze, George Chuter, Jordan Crane and Ollie Smith in his side for the first of two group games as England begin the defence of the title they won at Twickenham last year.
“Selection was very close in virtually all positions and certainly wasn’t an easy process,” said Bates, who named five forwards on the bench.
“We’ve picked a squad to combat what we expect from the USA which is a very physical game. We expect to need reinforcements in the back row and we’re lucky to have such a wealth of talent to pick from.
“Looking down our backline, it’s very exciting to see so many players pushing for senior positions.”
The match takes place at Twin Elm Rugby Park, Ottawa, kick off 7.05pm UK time and is being televised live on Sky Sports 2.
