Four Tigers in World Cup opener

England will begin the defence of their Rugby World Cup against the United States on Saturday with Tigers lock Ben Kay in the second row and three of his club colleagues among the replacements.

England head coach Brian Ashton, in announcing his selection, said: "We've picked a team that we think will do a job against the USA.

"Jonny Wilkinson twisted his ankle in training this morning and is not available for selection.  He is going for a scan to determine the nature and the extent of the injury."

Kay, one of the heroes of England's victory in Australia four years ago, lines up alongside Wasps' Simon Shaw in the second row, while George Chuter, Martin Corry and Lewis Moody, who have recovered from injury, are on the bench.
