Friendship band sales hit 10,000 for Hambo

A campaign to sell friendship bands to raise money for the Matt Hampson Trust has now reached a landmark figure.

Sales of the green, white and red bands have now hit the 10,000 mark since their introduction in 2005.

The bands are made by Tigers season ticket holders Jacqui Haines and Jan Sawbridge, who even spend time hand-producing the bands on away trips, including this month’s EDF Energy Cup Final at Twickenham.

“We originally set out to make 1,000,” says Jan. “We chose a simple design so that we could produce as many as possible, but we never dreamed we would sell as many as 10,000.”

The bands are on sale at the Tigers club shop at Welford Road priced at just £2, with all proceeds going direct to Matt’s fund.
