Young players are being invited to discover the opportunities offered by Leicester Tigers’ unique partnership with Brooksby Melton College at an open evening later this week.

Brooksby Melton College, in Melton Mowbray, is hosting an open evening this Thursday, January 23 (5.30pm to 7.30pm) and provides a perfect opportunity to find out more about studying and getting involved in their rugby programme, delivered in partnership with the Tigers.

The evening is designed to showcase facilities for anyone interested in studying Sport or Sport Science alongside participation in the development rugby academy, and also provides the chance to find out more about a range of other academic subjects alongside rugby coaching and playing.

The BMC development team – trained by Tigers community coaches through the Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme – plays in college competitions while players receive up to eight hours of coaching and rugby a week.

Brooksby’s AASE League side enjoyed their best-ever finish in the hotly-contested tournament this season, beating nine-time champions Hartpury College to secure third place in the development tournament.

And the side will also look to defend their Under-18 Schools County Cup title won in 2019.

The college has also celebrated international recognition for a number of players, while Brooksby alumni Keston Lines, Taylor Gough, Henry Lavin, George Martin and Leo Gilliland are all part of the Tigers development squad in 2019/20.
