Global Partner Clubs kicking off the season

Rugby is back at Welford Road this weekend and Leicester Tigers global partner clubs around the world are also gearing up to an exciting 2018/19 season.

Tigers recently announced India’s title-winning club Delhi Hurricanes as the latest global partner club to join then #TigersFamily as the club continue to develop the game around the world.

We caught up with of our global partner clubs ahead of the start of their respective seasons.

Kuala Lumpur Tigers 

Formed in 2014, KL Tigers has more than 500 players across men’s and women’s teams including junior teams between the ages of four and eighteen.

The squads returned to training at the end of August after a summer break which saw the club host the fourth KL Tigers International Tournament, inviting 146 clubs from across Asia to take part in the festival. Watch highlights here

The first-team return to action this weekend in the Super Series 2018 against NS Wanderers.

Leicester Tigers are also looking for a global and community coach to deliver a high quality rugby coaching programme that covers a range of rugby, educational and community focused activities.

The post is a fixed-term contract and will involve working on behalf of Leicester Tigers at our global partner club KL Tigers RFC in Malaysia.

Dendermonde Rugby Club 

Reigning Belgian Elite League champions Dendermonde RC enjoyed a hugely successful 2017/18 as both the men’s and women’s teams took top spot in their respective leagues.

Dendermonde joined as Leicester Tigers global partner club last season and have already linked up with former KL Tigers club coach and former Leicester academy product Joe Cain, who now heads up the senior side. 

Leicester Tigers academy coach Jamie Taylor recently visited the club alongside Tigers coaches heading a rugby camp with young players from the club’s junior teams.

Delhi Hurricanes

Tigers newest global partner club have been taking part in All India Under 19’s National XV's Championship with both the men’s and women’s teams in preparation for the new season.

Founded in 2004, the Delhi based club also made history last season becoming the first club to have both its men’s and women’s teams finish top of the All India & South Asia leagues in the same year.
