Hayman to take on Tigers once more

Carl Hayman, one of the leading forwards in world rugby, will lock horns with Leicester Tigers for a third time this season when he wears the colours of the Classic All Blacks at Welford Road on Sunday, May 25.

Tighthead prop Hayman, now at the end of his first season on English soil, was in the Newcastle Falcons side beaten 41-14 at Welford Road in January but then played his part in a 28-25 victory in the return fixture at Kingston Park during May.

Now he is preparing to team up with his fellow New Zealanders as part of the invitational touring team in the last action of the season at Welford Road.

“A lot of players want to get involved in the Classic All Blacks and hopefully they can put on a good show for the crowd on the day,” said Hayman.

“There are a lot of good players in the squad and the match should provide good entertainment at the end of the season.

“A lot of the guys have played together for a long time and it will be good to catch up with them all and play some rugby at the same time. We’ll be looking forward to it.”

Fellow New Zealand internationals Troy Flavell, Marty Holah and Filo Tia Tia are among the forwards ready to join Hayman at Welford Road, with the Classic All Blacks squad also including Carlos Spencer, Justin Marshall and former Tigers vice-captain Daryl Gibson.
