Hipkiss said he wanted “to try something new” after agreeing a two-year deal at The Rec.
“I started playing for Leicester when I was 15, so will have had 14 years here by the end of this season,” said Hipkiss.
“I have always wanted to try something different, and feel that this is the right time to do that. I’ve had a great time with Tigers, but really want to try something new in my career, and feel that I will be able to do that with Bath.”
Hipkiss has scored 31 tries in 129 appearances for Tigers, including the winning score in last season’s Premiership Final against Saracens at Twickenham. The 28-year-old centre has won 13 England caps and played at the 2007 World Cup.
