Howard welcomes competition for places

Leicester Tigers head coach Pat Howard says there is some stiff competition for places ahead of Sunday's PwC Challenge Cup match against Argentina at Welford Road.

"The timing of this game is very good for us," said Howard. "The guys had a few days off last week but we have been working them really hard this week and going into this game we may see a bit of fatigue in them, but it is important that they work through that.

"Ten or 12 of the guys who play on Sunday will be taking us through the Six Nations period and it is all about individual performances and gelling together."

Tigers have a number of senior players away with their national squads, but Howard added: "It is still competitive - we still have a lot of back-row guys for example. We haven't lost many backs to the international sides so there are a lot of backs here this week and they are going to have to take every opportunity that they get. A lot of guys are vying for positions."

Tickets for the historic visit from Argentina, who are ranked as the No.6 nation in world rugby, are on sale now.

All junior tickets are priced at £5.
