Supporters heading to Welford Road for Sunday's match between Leicester Tigers and Harlequins are advised to allow extra time for their journey due to traffic disruption caused by the Leicester Marathon in some areas of the city.Marathon events start and finish at Victoria Park and take in a series of routes through the city.
A series of road closures will be brought in along the route from 6am and motorists are being advised to allow extra time for journeys.
The route goes from Victoria Park to the city centre via London Road, St George’s Way, Charles Street and Belgrave Gate, before heading out along the Golden Mile and into the county.
It will then take in parts of Thurmaston, Wanlip, Syston, Queniborough, East Goscote, Thrussington, Rearsby, Ratcliffe on the Wreake and Birstall before coming back into the city at Red Hill Circle.
From there the route passes the National Space Centre and Abbey Park, Frog Island and St Margaret's Way, coming back into the city centre via Church Gate, Highcross Leicester, High Street and Gallowtree Gate.
The race will then take in Market Place South, Market Street and King Street on its route to New Walk and on to Victoria Park.
There will be some disruption to bus services. Buses due to depart from Charles Street or Humberstone Gate before 9.45am will be diverted to alternative stops. Notices will be placed on affected bus stops.
Bus services will not serve Causeway Lane, Horsefair Street, Belvoir Street or Welford Place until approximately 3.15pm. Bus services will also not operate along Abbey Park Road, Thurcaston Road or Loughborough Road until about 2.45pm.
The Arriva matchday bus services are in operation, with the T6 route from Melton Mowbray running to a new timetable to allow for the traffic disruption. There are also alterations to drop-off and pick-up points. For details, click here.
