Leicester Tigers hooker Jake Kerr admitted he was surprised to be voted Young Player of the Year by the club’s supporters in his breakthrough season.
The former Loughborough University student has had a whirlwind campaign.
This time last year he had not played Premiership rugby, but has made more than 20 first-team appearances for Tigers this season, played on the big stage in Europe and earned a first senior cap for Scotland during the Six Nations.
The 23-year-old told LTTV: “It’s quite shocking, if I’m honest.
“There are obviously a lot of young boys who have played really well this year, and it’s a massive honour to win the award.
“I think it’s amazing that everyone’s had the opportunity and everyone’s stepped up.”
