Lace up for Leicester 10K

The Leicester Tigers Foundation has been named as an official partner charity of the Leicester 10K, which returns to the city later this year.

Last held in 2018 with a route from Abbey Park, around the city centre and past the historic Leicester Cathedral, the Asda Foundation Leicester 10K returns with a brand new route on Sunday, August 9.

Starting at Jubilee Square, runners will head into the city centre and onto Granby Street before heading out to Victoria Park and the Welford Road, before weaving through the park and up to the University of Leicester and completing the loop past the cathedral.

And, after raising more than £14,000 for the Tigers Foundation at the 2018 edition of the race – as well as seeing club captain Tom Youngs serve as ‘official starter’ – Leicester Tigers will once again be supporting the event in 2020.

Alec Brown, fundraising and administration manager for the Tigers Foundation, said: “It’s fantastic to have this event back in the city.

“The 10K was a great way for our fans to support the Tigers Foundation last time around, and we know the event has been missed this past year.

“We are really looking forward to the event and working with the team at Run For All to support our fundraisers in 2020!”

The Tigers Foundation supports a wide range of programmes designed to engage and unite the local community, from the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools project right through to the successful Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team.

Joining the Tigers Foundation as official partner charities at the Leicester 10K in 2020 are the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and CLASP – The Carers Centre.

Supporters looking to run the Leicester 10K in aid of the Tigers Foundation are encouraged to contact Alec Brown directly on [email protected] or 0116 217 1368 for more information on how you can get involved.
