LeoVegas Fans' Favourites: Genge and Ford

England internationals Ellis Genge and George Ford shared the supporters vote to claim the LeoVegas Fans' Favourite award in the Gallagher Premiership showdown with Northampton Saints at Welford Road in Round 17 of this season's competition.

Speaking to LTTV after the match, Tigers front-rower Genge admitted to being embarrassed when accepting the award but was grateful to receive the supporters votes.

"I was quite embarrassed to receive it ... obviously I appreciate the support from the fans," Genge told LTTV.

His international and club team-mate Ford was of a similar opinion when asked for his thoughts on finishing on top of the voting tally.

"It's very bittersweet," said Ford.

"I'm grateful to those supporters who voted for me and all those who were with us at Welford Road, cheering the boys on."

Genge was also not hiding his shared frustrations and "hurt" with fans after the 14-point loss.

"I appreciate all the frustrations ... the boys are hurting just as much as everybody else," he said.

"It's down to us, we can't point the fingers at the coaches and staff ... as a playing group we're going to come together and try and sort this out."

Meanwhile Ford echoed Genge in saying it came down to the playing group to make something of the final five fixtures remaining this Premiership season.

"We understand the position we’re in here as well, so we’ve got to make sure that we sort ourselves out quickly," Ford said.
