Welford Road was the setting as the second eight teams, made up of 100 young players, took to the field in the super 16s on Sunday, before Leicester Tigers’ Heineken Cup fixture with Montpellier.
Teams from Old Leamingtonians, Market Rasen & Louth, Haywards Heath, Kettering, Melbourne, Nottingham Corsairs, Braintree and Nuneaton all took part.
Haywards Heath drew 3-3 with Old Leamingtonians in their final game but, as first try-scorers, were invited back for the semi-finals.
Nottingham Corsairs were able to hold onto their one try lead to finish 3-2 against Braintree and earn their invitation back for later in the season.
The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Loughborough-based Prima Solutions, is enjoying its biggest-ever sesason with 70 teams entering the early stages of the Cup.
The first round of knockout fixtures was played before Tigers took on London Irish in the Aviva Premiership. Teams from North Walsham and Market Harborough were successful and will return to Welford Road alongside Haywards Heath and Nottingham Corsairs later in the season.
The teams from Market Rasen & Louth, Kettering, Melbourne and Nuneaton were also invited back to play in the Prima Tiger Bowl at Welford Road later in the season.
