Lord Jones back in the saddle

Lord Digby Jones is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride by getting in the saddle again to benefit three charities, including the Matt Hampson Trust.

“End2End – The Sequel: the saddle fights back!” will see the Leicester Tigers director and Minister for Trade and Investment saddle up to ride from Sixways Stadium, home of Worcester Warriors, to Tigers’ Welford Road on Friday, June 13.

The ride is in aid of the Matt Hampson Trust, the charity SpecialEffect which has Matt as its patron, and the Dan James Trust supporting Spinal Research.

The day will start with a breakfast at 7.45am at Worcester Warriors, where Lord Digby Jones will be speaking and taking questions.

Almost 70 miles later the riders will arrive at Welford Road, where Lord Digby Jones will speak at a dinner in the evening. The dinner will also be attended by the Lord Mayor of Leicester and musical entertainment will be provided by Beth Dunn and Sara Weaver.

Lord Digby Jones said: “I am thrilled that people from so many different walks of life are coming together in the name of helping such a fabulous bloke as Matt Hampson.

“It will be 10 years to the day since I finished the END2END ride at Land’s End, after 14 days in the saddle, and I cannot think of a better way of commemorating the date than mixing exercise with business and the Tigers so everyone benefits, especially the Matt Hampson Trust.”
