Lots in store for first home game of the season

To welcome Leicester Tigers back to Welford Road this Saturday we have some great entertainment lined up all afternoon and some special friends dropping in.

Tigers return to home ground for the first time since winning a second successive league title at Twickenham in May and an intriguing game is in prospect against newly-promoted Exeter Chiefs.

Last Sunday, Tigers kicked off the title defence by giving debuts to summer signings George Skivington and Thomas Waldrom, then on Monday night fellow new arrivals Lee Robinson, Horacio Agulla and Steve Mafi were among the starters in the second team. Now they’re all chasing the chance to start at Welford Road alongside fans’ favourites Geordan Murphy, Martin Castrogiovanni, Dan Cole, George Chuter, Ben Youngs, Alesana Tuilagi and Scott Hamilton.

Tigers main sponsors Caterpillar are bringing some of their machinery with them for the start of the new season as they celebrate 25 years of production of the Backhoe Loader. Number 01 of 25 limited-edition machines will be at Welford Road – the only one produced in silver to help mark the anniversary. There will be Caterpillar competitions and a Caterpillar poster included in the matchday programme. For this occasion, the Tigers kit will also carry a special ’25 year’ logo.

Heart 106 Breakfast Show presenters Sam and Amy are joining us and you can meet the Heart FM team outside the Caterpillar Stand before the game.

They’re bringing family entertainment with them in their 'al fresco' zone outside the Caterpillar Stand. This is also the place to go to register to stand the chance of taking part in a new half-time competition which could win you a pair of CAT boots and £250 from Heart 106.

As part of a special promotion, children can pick up a Disney bookmark from the Leicester Mercury team in attendance this weekend too.

The Tigers Club Shop will be open throughout matchday. Come and see the new range of leisurewear and training kit.

Final Whistle opens at 3.30pm so supporters can come and enjoy food and frefreshments ahead of kick-off at 5.30pm and the Junior Tigers Club room will be open in the Goldsmiths Stand.

There’s more entertainment after the game with resident band Rock Bottom back for the new season, playing in Final Whistle after the game.

Tickets for this first home game of the season are available now. The Tigers ticket office is open 8.30am-5pm Thursday and Friday, and from 9am on Saturday.

Phone the ticket hotline on 0844 856 1880 to book now, or call in at the ticket office at Welford Road.
