James Whitcombe speaks to LTTV following the away defeat to Saracens on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, the front-rower said: "Credit to the boys, we obviously came up a bit short there but we all stuck in there."

"The lads who came on made a great impact, credit to everyone."

Whitcombe admitted it was a case of too little, too late after giving up a lead in the opening half.

"I thought we did a good job in the first half to stay in the game," said the Leicester prop.

"But, left a bit too much to do there in the second half."

One of the a starting front-row averaging just 21 years of age, the Tigers youngsters said he was trying to make the most of the opportunity each week up against more experienced campaigners in the Premiership.

"Each week I try and take a bit from who I play against," said Whitcombe.

"It was a great learning experience."

Looking ahead to the challenge of facing an in-form London Irish next week, Whitcombe said it was important the Tigers squad prepared properly for the fixture against The Exiles at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

"We need to have a good training week next week and fly into that," he said.
