Leicester Tigers kick off their defence of the LV= Cup against Saracens in the opening round of the 2012/13 competition.

Tigers lifted the domestic cup for a seventh time following victory over Northampton Saints at Sixways Stadium. Steve Mafi and Scott Hamilton scored the tries in a 26-14 win, with George Ford kicking the rest of the points.

Tigers are in Pool 2 and face an away trip to Saracens in Round One of the LV= Cup, which will be held on the weekend of November 9-11, before welcoming London Irish to Welford Road in Round Two (November 16-18).

London Wasps visit Welford Road in Round 3 (January 25-27) before Tigers finish their group stage games with a trip to face RaboDirect Pro12 side Scarlets (Feb 1-3). The semi-finals will be held on the weekend of March 8-10 with the final on March 17 at a venue to be confirmed.

Title sponsors LV= continue their support of the competition which last year saw 10,000 supporters turn out for the final at Sixways, as well as the introduction of the LV= Breakthrough Player award, presented to Jonny May.

Claire Jeromson, LV= head of sponsorship, said “After the success of last year’s tournament, which culminated in a thrilling final, we are looking forward to another exciting competition, as the LV= Cup goes into its fourth year.

"The young talent being showcased by the clubs is very strong, as displayed by current champions Leicester Tigers, and this season looks set to be no different with some early big name clashes setting the tone for the rest of the season.”
