Traffic travelling from the M69 and M1 northbound will be unable to use Junction 21 to get into Leicester. A diversion will be in place and the Highway Agency are also encouraging drivers to use alternative routes where possible.
At Junction 21, from 8pm Friday (September 20) through to 6am next Monday, the north-east quadrant of the roundabout will be closed for a full reconstruction.
With the M1 southbound slip road the only access into Leicester from Junction 21, and Leicestershire County Council’s work on the A5460 Asda Island, there is potential for long delays in the area.
The work is part of a £317million ‘pinch point’ improvement programme designed to boost local economies, reduce congestion and improve safety on the strategic road network.
